Toshiba SD220E Review

For those interested in the Toshiba SD220E there is a review in `What Video & TV`. It is given a best buy. I would still like to know if it plays SVCDs with NO lip sinc problems, unlike the earlier SD210E.

Toshiba SD220E & The Matrix issues

Not read the review, but bought one on Sat. due to the SD210` s great reviews etc.

All seemed fine - great picture and sound...

BUT!

playing "the matrix" - the player skips most of the fight scene between Neo and Morpheus - no pause, whirring etc, just cuts from one camera change to another 1.5 minutes further on in the film! (chapter 15, 48min,10sec into the film)

Don`t think it`s a layer change issue - could be part of the "follow the white rabbit" thing - anyone else seen this / any ideas??

(took the unit back - retailer wouldn`t set up another to see whether it was just my particular unit or not - poor show.)

I know its an old thread now ( been away for a while ) however i got a 220 a while ago now and it did EXACTLY the same thing but on witht he Matrix ! - I replaced the discs and still no joy so assumed a faulty batch so returned them again - but sounds more like a player issue - which is well strange.

Apparently this is a firmware problem . Toshiba have told me that the firmware being fitted in the factory has been changed to rectify the problem.

I assume this means that any new players shipped from the factory will be OK but if you`re stuck with one of the earlier shipped models you will probably need to contact your retailer to either get it swapped or get the firmware upgraded.
