HI i was in Currys today and they have just got a batch of Toshiba dvd`s with new styling slimline with mp3/vcd/dvd playback for £179 i have been to toshiba`s uk site and there isnt anything to be found but from what i have seen so far it looks nice and has a good few features which i fancy making use of ,so before i go and spend some hard earned dosh has anyone got any info on this player (macro ? multi region or others) please let me know...
The info is its a new update for the 210
Anyone got this player yet?
let me know if its a jap gem or jap pap....
thanks....baz
If this machine is as good as the 210...AND plays SVCDs with perfect LIP SINC (unlike the 210) they will be a bargain for a big named DVD player.
Yeah Ive had mine for a couple of weeks now - Like you point out theres very little info available at the min - I got a multiregion one and am very happy with it - the old Sd210 looked horrible even though its performance was top notch. The new one plays DVD-Rs aswell - which is pulling ahead in the write once dvd media war as most RW/RAM formats support it. Supports all the usuall VCD, SVCD, MP3, CDR, CDRW etc etc.
Only grip ive got is that theres only 1 scart ( as witht the 210 ) ;-( but u do get component out should you have a suitable TV/Projector.
Hi, GSM, you say it plays SVCDs, have you watched them yourself? Is the lip sync perfect?
Well i got myself a 220 yesterday for £179 from northern electric team valley gateshead and it seems spot on the only problem i have seen is that every time i switch the dvd`s power on it reverts to 4/3 screen mode and to fix this problem i had to disable my WSS wide screen signaling on my toshiba z7b (32 "widescreen) and ive tried to use all the video modes and screen settings on both tv and dvd aswell as a good quallity scart /video-s and rgb connectors ...
vcd playback is spot on mp3 is the best quality heard so far though the menu is unconventional it does the job.
playback of svcd has not been tested yet but home cinema has a write up on it and it says it also does dvd+r but dont quote me on this ...
in all its a smart looking silver box with buttons that gives quality video and audio what more could your average punter on the high street want for £179 and a brand name thrown in too
