i`ve narrowed down my choice of av amps to the yamaha rxv620 or the marantz sr5200.i would appreciate any comments on which one i should go for

You may want to hold on a bit - the 620`s successor is waiting in the wings, I believe....

Amps - Well of the two you have chosen it has to be the Marantz it has DPL II where as the now aged Yam although has good reviews is not and lets face it we spend most of your time watching TV rather then films.
Would also advise you to check out the Onkyo 595 alot less suppliers around but is a damnd good amp - Also if you dont need the 6 Channel input that the 5200 provides maybe consider the 4200 ? Its a steal now at around £230 ish.
