i`m considering buying a sony davs500 i want it to replace my stereo as well as my dvd player is it worth the dosh and does it play CDR/CDRW/MP3 I

well worth the money,got mine from multiregionmagic.co.uk about 500 quid and unlike a seperate amp and dvd player this looks good

One point to be aware of (not that it`s necesssarily a problem) is that it does not have SCART output, only Svideo, so you will need to get yourself an SVideo to SCART lead to ensure the best quality image. Do get it multiregion - it will cost over £50 to make a single region model multiregion - there is NO hack.

thanks for the info richardh does the system play cdr/cdrw and do you think the system is a adequite replacement for my hifi musicley

The DAVS500 plays CDR`s but I can`t confirm CDRW, it doesn`t play MP3`s.

Sonically I`d say it`s pretty good, mine replaced a Kenwood CD, Cyrus amp & Tannoy speakers and I think it does a better job.
