ECLIPSE DVD-695 hates Disney disks, & other troubles

I have problems with this player as follows, does anybody else have trouble, or know where to contact Eclipse? The webiste listed on the box doesn`t work.

Here is an e-mail I sent to the shp where I purchased it, listing all the problems:

Dear RicherSounds,
September last year I purchased a ENCORE DVD-695 from your shop in birmingham on the advice of one of your salesmen. I was trying to avoid DVD compatibility problems as much as possible, and he recommended this player to me.
Suffice to say that the first player I had was defective and had to be exchanged. The second one worked okay, with a couple of generic minor problems; as follows:
1.Picture is off centre, to the left and down a bit. This is really bad on NTSC mode, where I lose a good inch of picture on my 14" TV (all the missing footage shows up when I play the DVDs on my TV via my PC DVD-ROM)
2. Subtitles. This player seems to defualt to subtitles on on everything! Even when I`ve turned them off on the menu, once I start the film they`ll appear and I have to turn them off at the start.
3. Static pages (meuns, stills galleries etc) just don`t load properly half the time. I get half a page only, and have to keep trying to get them to work by pressing the button repeatedly.
4. Responsiveness: sometimes it just simply doesn`t respond to the remote, or takes ages to.

Now,,I`ve not done anything about this before becuase of the alleged reliability and compatibility problem free nature of the machine, and also that I assumed a firmware upgrade would be made available to correct these problems. There`s no way I`m the only one with this problem. The first player I had had these problems, as well as the others.
As I`ve gone along, I have however found some more serious problems with this player. Mainly it just doesn`t like Buena Vista (Disney, Miramax, Dimension, Touchstone) DVDs at all. It plays the audio out of synch, and turns the subs on with every rewind, ff, or chapter skip. As I`ve got more DVDs from this company, I`ve found it`s the same on them all, and my patience has worn out. They all play fine on my DVD-ROM and next door`s Sony DVD player.

Anyway, I waited for their website www.eclipseelectronics.co.uk to come online. Today I tried again, and found that the `under construction` had gone, and there was no trace of anything. Internet explorer gave me a message that the domain didn`t exist anymore.
So I tried the phone number I got given from the Birmingham store: 0207-8279827. This number came back as being unrecognised.
So what`s happened? Does this company still exist? Or are they laying low due to the problems, or what?
It`s a decent machine (I needed one that could handle SVCD-R and so forth; it does the lot), and could be easily remedied with a bug-fix firmware. But what can I do if I can`t get hod of them? My patience has run out with this player now, btween the subs, off-centre, NTSC overscan and Buena Vista troubles.

Can I contact them in any way that you`re aware of?

I too have this DVD player, and found that the subtitles come on, but normally if you select in the menus before the film, it switches them off.
The only DVD i have had problems was exit wounds, when the menus froze on the screen. This only happened when the film had been viewed. All i done was switch off then on then it was ok. As for NTSC playback it has been fine with my philips 32" (DVD was the simpsons season 1 (R1). My machine always responds to the remote. Maybe if you suggest some titles that did not work then maybe i can rent them and see if it happens.

I presume that Eclipse have gone bust or something, as richersounds tend to stock end of line products etc. and the website has never worked for me( from mid sept when player was bought)

If the machine is not older than 12 months i would have thought RS would exchange it for a different model.

you don`t get the half-laoded static menu pages problem? Both of the Eclipse machines I`ve had did this to me.

All Disney releases are problematic. SNOW WHITE the worst.

I rented POTA reg 2 and noticed no pic size changes. Does it have a feature where u can view deleted scenes, in the correct place in the film (as i have noticed this with snatch).
