Page 1 of Eclipse 595 good? RCE?

has anybody got an Eclipse 595 dvd player ( only from richer sounds £159 ) what`s it like / is it any good? and does it play back the dreaded RCE disc "the patriot"?

Got one today

so far played The world is not enough and a Winnie the Pooh DVD on both the sound and picture were excellent. Its got 5.1 outputs as well so I guess an av amp will be next.

Also created a couple of VCD`s from dv tape and both played ok on crap cdr`s

not sure about the patriot dvd but for 159 I don`t care.

thanks ian sounds really good don`t know where you are in the country ( i`m in yorkshire ) but no richer sounds around here have one for sale their display modles are all spoken for too. i was unable to look at the quality of picture and sound for myself as the modle wasnt connected up and the shop was much too busy to oblige me. i was a little put off by the old fashioned cluncking on/off switch and also the two earphone volume controls ( surely thaey could have made them smaller?) am i being too picky and does the performance outway the aesthetics of there machine?

Picked mine up in Cambridge although they sold 2 while I was waiting to be served. Actually went to buy the cyber home but lack of scart was a complete no no.

Wasn`t bothered about auditioning in the store as Richer offers a 14 day return which I`ve used in the past. This player also plays SVCD created on cheap cd-r`s.

Your right about the looks althought whats the old saying about looking at the mantle piece while poking the fire, thankfully this player doesn`t act like a dog!

thanks ian i thought i was being picky about looks after all it is performance that counts anyway going to try to find one in a richer stores near me but they just seem to be walking out of the shops ( that must be some sort of indictment as to their quality) thanks again
