Does anyone know of VCRs that aren`t affected by macrovision?
I remember reading somewhere that certain VCRs record off a DVD without any affect from macrovision. I am just about to buy a new VCR and would like one of these machines. Can anyone help?

years ago this was so but the level of macrovision in a dvd is far more than what use to be in vhs films i had 3 ferguson fv42l machines but im talking about 8 year ago i think youll struggle better off getting a dvd with macro off or a macro disable box or lead

Thomson now own Ferguson and build from similar chassis.
I can confirm that certain models ignore the MV signal.
Mine even records in NTSC from an NTSC signal - and plays it back on a PAL TV (mono sound only).
ARGOS had an amazing offer on a NICAM Thomson VCR, maybe it is stil on?
Hope this helps

I heard that some Sharp models are good for this, and also that SVHS machines are immune from macrovision, JVC do one for about £180-£200
But the risk is yours!
