Which Cinema Kit - any views appreciated

Bennyk (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 17th January 2002, 14:51

Hello All,
Have spent the last few days scouring the web to decide which home cinema kit to buy to go with my Scan DVD player.
Am down to the final few

Yammy HTIB 40 ( 350.00 pounds is best price I have been quoted
Yammy VS10 - little cheaper
Creative 5700

Any one got any input/views on which one to go for, I am erring towards the HTIB 40 but would appreciate input.
Also I want some stands for the rear speakers, any good online places to get some ( cheap)
Thanks
Ben

HTIB will give you most flexibility - better upgrade potential if that is desired. You could (for a few pennies more) go for the Denon 1602 with Prologic 2, on sale at http://www.hifistore.co.uk for £250, and get the Yammy speakers that come with the HTiB for £139 from http://www.qed-uk.com. Not sure what speaker cable comes with the HTiB (or maybe even the NSP220) - you may need to budget for that too.
Someone mentioned that Ikea do some speaker stands for £12 - concrete base, thin pole to shove the speaker on - might do the trick - not on line though. Also try http://www.beyondhifi.net and Richer sounds - not sure what they have re sattellite stands though.
