Is Toshiba sd210e multi region out of the box?

BazMan (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 5th January 2002, 12:32

Hi. I`m currently about to buy my first DVD player and have decided on the Tosh 210. The cheapest places I have found it do not state whether the player is multi region. From a few reviews and sites I have come across it seems the player is Multi region out of the box but I have seen a few people on here asking about chips for it. Can anyone confirm whether the player is definately multi region. I`m currently looking at getting it from Amazon (£170) where they don`t state what region or BE direct (I think) (£190) which states multi region.

I`m in a confused state and would love to be watching DVDs on the sofa rather than sitting on an office chair in front of my puter. Please help guys.
Cheers
Baz

Baz,

It`s region 2 as standard. It has to be modified for multiregion.
If you`re paying £170 it is most likely Region2.

I just bought one from dvdmagic.net for £199 inc vat and delivery

My advice to you is to buy one of thr home cinema magazines and phone around the company`s advertising. I find this way is the best way to get the cheapest deal going. Use the internet to get all your buying advice and take into account other peoples views especially on forums like these as they will tell you whats good and bad without trying to sell you anything. I recently bought a toshiba 210e MULTIREGION for £150 yes thats right £150.The company were selling it for £190 on the internet but if you play them against each other it can only work in your benefit. What have you to lose. How did I do it? I found a proper authorised dealer advertising in a mag the toshiba for £160 (which is a bloody good price anyway ).I then phoned richer sounds who promise to beat any price by £10 and told them so they sold me the tosh for £150 delivered to my door free of charge.I dont think you will beat this price for a long time. Give it a go and see how you get on. Let me know if this has been any use to you as im not the fastest typer in the world and it would be nice for it not to have been all in vain.Good luck.

It didnt come with a scart lead but if it did it probably wouldnt have been much cop anyway. You can buy a decent one for a tenner or so which is far better than the free ones. It did come with a set of video leads ( red`yellow`white) but i havent bothered trying them. It comes with a full 1 year guarantee and ive no complaints about the player or the service from richersounds.
