know of any pioneer dv-444 non chip retailer - please advise

dayers (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 3rd January 2002, 22:41

after much reading on thi forum and other sites i have decided to plump for the pioneer 444 because of its qui;it of picture, sound, build and reviews on this forum and other sites.

I read these 444`s can be modified using a firmware upgrade rather than a chip - please advise of anywhere that does this.

thanks

I bought my multi-regional pioneer 545 from linkonline.co.uk they use a paragon upgrade that i think you can buy on its own if you already have a dvd player. Hifibitz.co.uk have the multi r 444 for £179.99

thanks for the info
i checked out linkonline - the paragon upgrade is a chip - i would prefer to go with a firmware upgrade if possible.

techtronics are doing the 444 for 169 - but its a chip upgrade.

I doubt that anyone is using a chip to upgrade these players ... it`s simply not necessary when you can modify the firmware using the lead and software

hopefully that is the case stevie

after reading the info on both link online and techtronics sites i interpreted these upgrades to be chips.

i have emailed both link online and techtrocincs asking if their upgrades are chipped or firmware.

i`ll update thread with response of techtronics and linkonline.

cheers

Hello Steve...

Couple of questions which you might be able to answer.

How often do pioneer issue new firmware.

Do they issue them for bug fixes and improvements ?

Is it possible for joe public get the new firmware versions and install to their players. i.e. dv 444

Thanks
