Page 1 of PC-DVD ROM Hacks?
Hardware Forum
Sorry if this is an out-of-place thread as I wasn`t sure where to post.
Ayway, having a DVD ROM on my PC I wondered if it is possible to remove/hack the Regional Coding? When purchased the DVD was region free but after a set number of plays (region 2) it becomes fixed. Can this be reset?
Thanks for any help or leads.
It will depend on what DVD ROM you have?
Try searching the Region Hack forum or give us the name of your DVD drive!

Thanks Frogman, I will take a look there. The DVD-ROM is from TINY.
I`m not sure whether it can be reset but if you search for a programme called DVD Genie on the net you can play any region. All you have to do is select the region of the DVD you want to play and select the programme you use to view the DVD and then just play the DVD.
Thinking about it, it may just be the programme you are using to view the DVDs that is stuck on R2 not your actual DVD drive. I got stuck on region 2 with PC friendly but could still view R1 DVDs with Win DVD. Best bet though is to download DVD Genie, I`ve had no probs with it.
It all depends on what make of dvd drive it is and which windows operating system your running.
If your drive is region free like you say:
then windows 98/ME will work with DVD Genie
but it you are running Windows 2000/XP its a bit more complicated.
if you need any more help on this matter just post me.
Rog :)
