Pioneer 525 switch component gone kaputt - can anyone recommend places to buy parts?

Daniel Nolan (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 27th December 2001, 18:39

After unwrapping all the pressies on christmas day i proceeded to wack a CD or 2 into my dvd player to listen to them. Leaving the room to get a coffee i came back to find my sister had attempted to do something with the player and it was now buzzing and cracking away. I quickly turned it off as initially i thought the disctray had jammed. Attempting to switch it back on sadly failed to yield any kind of response. Taking the lid off the machine uncovered a somewhat faulty switch mechanism which kept shorting when it was switched on and shooting blue sparks all about the innards of my lovely machine. Anyways, i`ve had to short this circuit in another place to get it to work without the switch now, so it`s always on (which it is usually, but in standby mode, only my sister messes with the on off button).

After all that rambling my questions is, does anyone know of anywhere i could get a replacement switch mechanism for my player. The whole switch circuitboard and lever is detachable so it shouldn`t be a prob to refit it. The player is outside its guarantee now so i`d rather not send it to pioneer and be charged lots of money to have it fitted in, if i can get the part elsewhere it would be much better.

Any info would be appreciated, cheers.

For reference the part number is : VW62106-MSWB

Merry Christmas,
Dan
