I have just had an email reply back today from SCAN about the same thing, and they say you can turn off macrovision on the SC-2000.

I am also thinking about buying one as the YELO and MICO don`t seem quite as good, after reading responses on the forum. Let us know how you get on if you do go ahead and buy one.

I think that Nelley (from Scan) said somewhere that the next batch (with the new mpeg card), which are due about now, would not have the ability to have Macrovision switched off:(

So it might be worth double-checking this. I guess a retro-fit firmware upgrade might be possible to re-enable this though.

The new sc-2000 will not have macro enable disable due to the recent
clampdown by mcarovision in the far east.

Martin D: Better buy the Mico now before they join that NASTY macrovision mafia.

Scan / Yelo have a bad name here. Whereas the Mico is a mixed beast that worth persisting with.

I`M DELIGHTED - AND I`M A B*STARD TO PLEASE!.

A firmware for macro disable will be avialable soon.Im trying to twist
their arm to supply it.The sc-2000s are upgradeable by cd so it will
be easy to do.Maybe a few pints of beer and a trip to the local brothel
for our korean freinds might persuade them to give it to me.Dont worry
im working on it.Off course i wont be joining in.
