my dvd recorders gone kaput with important discs unfinalised!
I bought a JVC DR-M10EK DVD Recorder from Ebuyer in September 2005 (i`m going to have to check the warranty but i think it was only 1 year)
I bought this specifically to transfer old vhs home movies, i did eventually get around to doing this, the problem is that i never finalised the disc and now when i turn on the machine it`s permanantly stuck on `loading` and of course the discs won`t play in another player without being finalised.
So my question is, would i be able to finalise the discs on any jvc brand dvd recorder? Or would it have to be the same model?
Finally, are there places i would be able to go simply for this service?
Thanks for your help.

You should be able to finalise them on any JVC machine.
It works that way with Panasonic machines anyway.
God knows if anyone offers this service.
You only need a few minutes use of a machine though.
Perhaps a word with the local John Lewis / Currys sales people ?? ;)

I had the same deal from Ebuyer. It came with a years warranty. It was about £81.00. They were EX- repaired/graded stock. I also had the same fault & managed to get JVC swap to another one from their repair/exchange pool, whilst it was out of warranty. It is a design fault. If you key in "JVC DR-M10EK Loading Fault" in Google, you will see what I mean. JVC will deny that, but you tell them to see the WEB,
I think the cause is the High Value Electrolytic Capacitors in the power supply getting faulty- loosing its capacitance/ or drying up..
If you want to try JVC to replace it free of charge, then let me know & I wll try to find the contact name at JVC Customer Service who is aware of the problem.

Hi there hunsbury, sorry for the late reply, i`ve only just remembered to look back at this thread.
I too bought the recorder from ebuyer, so i`d love it if you could point me in the right direction of the jvc customer service guy.
cheers.

Make sure that you spell it out that it is a design fault & all he has to do is key in the model number & loading fault in Google.
All the best.
Let us know how you get on.
