I bought a LIMIT DVD player last week it is supposed to play most formats DVD MP3 VCD CDR CDRW etc but when I got it set up and running I found that I could not FASTFWD or Rewind MP3 Tracks plus I found that the DVD disc I bought DESPARADO region2 would not play it just jumps around on the screen, the picture cuts out then back etc sound etc.

I mean My best Mate got a £99 cruddy ALBA form ARGOS and it does every thing Mine did`nt and Mine cost £200 so where have I gone wrong, I know one thing I am never every going to BUY another Unwell Known Make of Hi-fi or Video Equipment ever again.

Can anyone point me to a good well known Brand name DVD player that is reliable and can play DVD MP3 AudioCD VCD for around £100 or less

please let me know

"Brand" names are fairly unreliable indicators as to whether a player will break down or not - eg Wharfedale players are made by Sampo in Taiwan, Hitachi players have been made by Samsung in the past, Yamaha players are made by Phillips, etc., etc.

I think for £100 the player currently gaining a lot of fans is the Dansai 852, at Tesco. As far as I know it isn`t made by Arcam, but you never know ;-)

yer but do you know weather you can rewind and fastfaward Mp3 on it as that is all and play most other fomats the DVD is last on the list things it must be able to play as it is DVD player and also if it plays VCDs :-)

is that the name of the Player I should look at buying or your e-mail address anyway I thought schendier makes HEAVY DUTY SWITCH GEAR formallly known as SQUARE D ;-)

also does it rewind and fastforward on MP3 and also play VCDs and play all other formats CDR CDRW etc some of them I have been told can now play WMA and ASF windows formats

Just bought a Dansai 852 and it has the strange thing when it opens that it has a sprung front flap that is bashed into by the tray and forced over as the tray comes out..The under side of the tray then seems to be wearing little groves in the top of the flap as it grinds in and out over it, and only been trying it out today as a christmas present for the little lad and already you can see this.
I suppose little fine bits of plastic may end up in the machine as the tray wears its way back in, seems a strange thing as just fixing flap onto tray front as is usual would have sorted that and meant less to go wrong, springy bits and all that.
Seems to be a good player but can`t get RGB down Scart as of yet, any idea`s, but looking good for just shy of £100 and all the better for dvd generally as more people get them.
Thing that bugs me is that if I, a humble dvd watching lay person can see this wear on day one, why can`t the designers over many. Or am I just over-reacting its still a beaut.

well it sounds like has faulty spring or tray Mechanism Have you found that the DANSAI 852 can play MP3s and if so and this all I am interested in is if it can REWIND and FAST FORWARD when playing MP3 as every make and model i have tried wont do it and my best Mate bought £99 ALBA DVD 104 A or B and as luck would have it will FSTFWD/RWNS MP3s the only thing is I can`t se myself getting one as ALBA are rubbish in my experience.
