Advice on Budget, multi region (RCE) player

jamesph (Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 9th December 2001, 11:57

Any advice on a good budget multi region player that will cope with RCE disks? I don`t want to have to mess about with hacks so want the player to be easy to use.

Also, any advice on good retailers to buy a player like this from? I would like to be able to go to a shop to see the player before buying. I was considering going to Richer Sounds as they offer multi-region players.

Thanks for your help

Hi,
After a few weeks of waiting I bought a Toshiba SD 210E-Silver for £160 plus a 3 year guarantee for £20 that allows you to sell the player back to them for 50% of the original purchase price within 3 years....or claim back the price of the guarantee(£20)..I asked them for a "price beat" when compared to Electro Centre`s deal and they beat it by a tenna!! Great shop !!!great staff...but the Deputy Manager in Hanley in a bit untrusting and short( one of my mates had a tiff with him when asking him for a refund over a dodgy Cyberhome 528 and he only got the refund after he resorted to calling him an arsehole in the middle of the shop..Superb, wish I was a fly.. apart from that ....Mummy Returns ..here I come and Star Wars and T2 and Das Boot and Gladiator and.........

Thanks for your advice.

I take it your toshiba player will play RCE disks OK? As a matter of interest, how do you change the region of the player or does it do that automatically?

Any other comments about good players?

It will play RCE dvds fine...you put in a normal Region 1 dvd for a few seconds, eject it then put in the RCE dvd and off you go, full instruction were supplied with a helpline phone number...bloody great!! Do it now!!
