Goodmans DVD3500 / Grundig GDV620 Problems

Fozz (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 23rd November 2001, 09:41

HI all,

Bought a Grundig GDV620 from my local Currys last night for £199 (Included 3 free DVDs from a short selection).

2 possible problems so far :

1) There is a very noticable (read annoying!) buzz from the Sub Woofer. Do they all suffer from this ... ? Anyone tried a different speaker etc ?

2) With my free DVD (7 years in Tibet) the colour Red was very washed out - IE. almost brown. I used a scart connection (nicked from my video) and the Sony TV doesn`t seem to have a problem with Red from TV/Video. Anyone else noticed poor colour reproduction .. ?

Cheers.
Foz.

I just saw your player in the Currys mag today and thought it looked good value

Can you give me some more info

Does it play VCD on CD-R`s?

Mp3?

Apart from your Subwoofer problem is it any good?

Picture/sound quality?

Is there a multi-region hack? Have you tried all the grundig ones?

Have you seen any other reviews of this player? I can`t even see it listed on the Grundig site?

I looked at both these systems as there is a currys and comet next door to each other where I live, I went for the Goodmans and I am quite happy with the picture quality and there is no buzz from the sub-woofer.
I use a scart connection.
As far as the playing of CD-R, it doesn`t garantee playing them but I have found it will play some makes and not others(music) for instance it plays most that are on blue maxell(but not all) and blue samsung, these are the only makes that I have had any joy with. But I bought some other maxell today which have silver bottoms and it won`t play them.
Also I have other makes which are blue that don`t work so I have no idea why some work and others don`t.
If anyone has any ideas it would help.
