Hi there,
I was wondering what would happen if I plugged one of a DVD`s digital outputs into my Cambridge DACmagic2 (which has both optical and coaxial inputs).
Many things I have read say that DTS etc come out of these inputs - however, all I want is bog-standard stereo as I doubt my old DAC will handle these new-fangled surround systems ;-)
Is it possible to get a `normal` stereo output out of a DVD`s digital output at all?
I don`t actually have a DVD yet (see my previous thread) but I am looking at either the Toshiba SD210EB or NADT550 (which I have found a good deal for).

There should be an option to set the digital output in the DVD player`s setup menu - you`ll probably have a choice between AC3, PCM and DTS. If you set this to PCM, you should get a normal (mixed down) digital stereo signal that your DAC can decode.
