Which 5.1 speaker set up for my DVD player ??

dna108 (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 23rd October 2001, 14:44

I have a `Pioneer DV-636D`, it has DD and DTS on board so I only need a 5.1 speaker pakage. My price range is only around £150 mark !!

I`ve looked at the:

VideoLogic DigiTheatre LC - (Dabs £116.32)

BUSH PRO300 - (QED £89.04)

Limit HT5.1 - (Richersounds £149.95)

As I`m totally new to surround sound speakers, could you give an explanation of which one would be best for my dvd player. Or can you recommend another 5.1 setup.

Thanks.

You`ve correctly identified that you need a speaker setup which includes amplification. You could also look at the Novatech (http://www.novatech.co.uk) ones - the HT215 sells for £100, and got a reasonable write up in PcPro this month (near the back in the leisure section) - they also do a more expensive one.
Not heard any of them, though. I would book up to listen to the one from Richer at a store - you could even take your own DVD player in to see how it all worked together.
