If a DVD disk states that it has Dolby Digital and Linear PCM Stereo audeo tacks, can anyone advise as to which should be sellected if you have a Doldy Surround Sound system?

Either should be ok, as Dolby Digital downmixes to stereo anyway.

If you aren`t sure - try them both and use whichever one sounds the best. Thats the way to do these things.

Aye.

If you only have Dolby Pro-logic or the older Dolby surround (like myself), then you must set the output to PCM, as the Dolby digital output from a DVD player comes out of either a Co-axial or Optical output socket, and this will not be connectable to most pro-logic Dolby amplifiers. The Dolby surround effect is encoded from the normal `line` stereo outs. Must admit i`m beginning to think about upgrading though, myself, as Dolby Digital/DTS receivers and Amps are getting cheaper by the day! Trouble is, the old Pro-logic stuff doesn`t raise much dosh second-hand. But you can`t have it both ways!!
