my alba 103 plays region 1 discs without any tinkering but only in black and white. Any ideas?

try pressing the `system` button to change to NTSC mode,assuming you`re tv will take an NTSC signal that is.

All is ok now.the TV signal in the set up menu was on auto I changed it to PAL and now it plays r1 and2 discs without need to change anything.STRANGE?
