Richer sounds does not have the cyberhome 512 in stock at the moment. Does anybody else know were i can buy one for the same price (£120) or cheaper?

Thanx

Richer offer the 3 year "monry back" warrantee for £20 - don`t use it and get your money back. Don`t buy the mulitregion upgrade - download it form here http://www.cyberhome-help.de/fadm2512_english.php4 - burn it onto a CDR and you`re sorted.
Also the 528 is now out - can`t remove macrovision, but otherwise slightly improved functionality - see review on site linked to above. www.unbeatable.co.uk are doing them for £109 + del

Be careful if you go for the W. H. Smith version of this unit. I think that they may have either an earlier version, or possibly a stripped down model. (They are selling it for £129.00)

I bought one from the Hemel Hempstead shop last Saturday, and it did not have a scart outlet, Hi-Fi audio connections, or Dolby 5:1 sockets. on the back. Luckily I was able to return it. I managed to get the last unit from Richer Sounds Milton Keyns outlet, and the guy there reconed that they would have some more in, in a couple of weeks. It may be worth hanging on.

The unit seems to work OK, although I have not tried the handset hack.
Does anyone know if it works?

I got mine from a company based in Manchester, and ordered it online from www.mailuk.com, slightly more than £129, i paid £169 around about 8-9 months ago. They have their own region free chip, with full RCE compliance and macrovision disabled. It came with a scart lead also. I later upgraded the firmware from a disk they sent me. Great player all you want for a resonable price. I think the player has come down in price since then.

Looks like it might be worth hanging on for stock at Richer, or see if they can get them from another branch - I had to wait a bit to get mine - glad I did though.

The WHSmith model sounds like the 212 rather than the 512 - don`t buy it, as you will see from the description above - many fewer features

Maybe the 528 from unbeatable will do the job for you...

wh smiths ad-m512 with 5.1 sound £120
firmware version 9.9 so no region/macro hack but download v9.8 from cyberhome-help.de. and make it region/macro free
also if you sign up for a whsmith reward card you get £2.40 on the card
