GDVD301RP - Recorded discs wont play on other DVD players
Hi, Any help or pointers to links etc would be great.
I have a GDVD301RP - Goodmans DVD recorder. All is fine with how to use it etc and any disc it records (+R and +RW) play fine as long as it`s in the GDVD301RP. If I try to play them in any other dvd player (sony, PC, DTD/TV, playstation, xbox) they wont play - I just get an error saying "wrong disc".
Someone must have seen this before or is mine just faulty? (strange fault if it is).
I have emailed Goodmans and will update with any respone i get from them but would appreciate any input from Y`all.
Cheers and regards :B

Have you finalised the discs?

Sorry Paul, you`ve lost me. When i insert a blank +r disc its tells me its a blank disc and do i want to format it - i pick yes, it formats it then i record onto it.
It can then be replayed in this dvd recorder but not on any other player.
Am I missing something?
Not sure what "finalising" is
cheers for your help with this

RTFM
Somewhere in the instruction book it will tell you how to finalise a +R disk. Once this is done it should play on other machines. You don`t have to do this for +RW disks.

Yep, that sounds like where you are going wrong. A DVD+R will not play in any other rmachine until it has been finalised. There should be a simple button or menu option for this.
Also some recorders require you to finalise DVD+RW prior to playing elsewhere as well (I know someone with a Daewoo which has this weird feature).
A useful site for you to check out your other players` disc compatibility is here:

Not all players are compatible with the "+" format - key in your DVD player details to find out which discs it should recognise.
