Liteon LVW-5025

I`m trying to check the firmware version. The Technical FAQs at http://www.liteonit.com/DC/english/customer.htm tells me to turn on, go into the OSD setup menu, and press 2730, but nothing happens.

Can anybody help?

Hi

i`m not familiar with the 5025, but if other liteons are anything to go by
you need to go into setup>system info. this usually displays the
firmware version and serial number on the screen.

the 2730 number you have quoted is very similar to the number required
to hack the player to make it multi region.....the numer is 2930.

this is a site dedicated to all lite-on machines. it`s free, but you
will have to register with the site to access the forums and info.

Ste.

........is that gasoline i smell?

The 2730 code only applies to some models - not it seems the 5025. On the LiteOn site, go to the Customer service section and click on Recordable Player, and that FAQ is the one with the better instructions. The entry about firmware version is as clear as mud, so here`s what I found on my brand new 5025 (latest toy).

When you press the Setup key, there should be a serial number in white at the bottom of the screen. Mine looks like xxxx-xxxx-nnnn-xxxx (xxxx-xxxx). In this, the nnnn gives the version number of the firmware (0018 in my case). If yours is less than 0018, you could do with upgrading it. Go to the downloads section, select the latest version of the firmware (currently 018R8-UK for me in the UK), download it, unzip it, and burn it onto a CD or DVD as a normal file - it`s not an ISO image. Then give the CD/DVD to the 5025 and, hopefully it will offer to update the firmware. Just follow the instructions then.

Hope this helps. :)
