Connecting DVD Player to TFT monitor

jake22 (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 21st February 2006, 10:55

Hi. I would like to connect a DVD player to a TFT monitor. I have neither a TV nor a computer. Do I need any special connectors, or will a DVD player with VGA output suffice? Can anyone recommend a good (budget) system? Or should I just buy a laptop and be done with it?

Thanks.

There are a few dvd players around now with VGA outputs which allow direct connection to VGA equipped display screen equipment.
I`m not sure however whether this carries sound. If not, you will also need to connect your player upto a suitable amp (and speakers).

HI

Only a few players will have a VGA output and some will play via a VGA scart cable such as many of the kiss range.I would suggest you think outside the box with this one and consider a Karoake machine (DVD player with additional facilities) like The Bluelaser-DVG 888 or similar which will play DVD via CTR or many TFT.Sound will be via 5.1 or RL through your stereo.
