I`ve been doing searches to find a good Dvd player/recorder that is multiregion and that will let me play XVid dvds on it, and keep getting Yamada, lite-on and elion models coming up, but I can`t seem to get a handle on which would be the best - I want to pay no more than £120 and less if possible. Anyone got an opinion they could share with me. I also notice that a few sites are now saying Yamada models they once stocked are no longer available - any ideas why?

I would suggest you avoid Ellion at all costs. Out of the four months that I owned one (Christmas pressy) it worked (almost) correctly for approximately five weeks. The rest of the time was spent at the repair shop. A replacement was worse than the first. Others have had similar experiences, as reported on here.
