Scan SC2000 Any good???

Neil aka Neiliboy (Competent) posted this on Saturday, 1st September 2001, 12:13

Yo people.
I would really appreciate advice on the Scan sc2000. I was going to buy a Toshy sd210 but i`v since changed my mind after reading the reviews for the Scan. Its got exactly the same functions as the toshy, all the outputs i need to link to my DD/DTS amp and picture quality is supposed to be prettty good. I especially like the way you can download upgrade stuff off their website. Has anyone out there bought one? I`d like to know what you think please!

no,buy a tosh.
i was in the same situation as you about 3 months ago,i decided to buy a scan.off i went with my cash in my grubby little mit to scan at reebok, when i got there they had none and the attitude of the jolly folk of scan leaves a lot to be desired.so i decided to dig deeper and found that the machine is unreliable, just like the warfy and many others.
i also found that the leading manufacturers to be generaly better than the cheaper makes, with the poorer cousins regularly having firmware problems as well as shoddy build quality
you gets wots yous pays for.
cheer up scan.
if you don`t believe me just look back a few weeks in the postings and count how many owners of the lesser known manufacturers are having problems.
but i must be honest and say that my 210e does have a noisy drive, but everything else is damn good.

I wouild be interested in knowing who served you in reception. You can email me on yellen[at]eW.ku.oc.nacs always sell the player before we get
the next batch as the factory can not keep up with our orders.Hence we are selling the cyberhome at £94 plus vat.Next shipment on sc-2000 is
20th sept and we will then recieve 1000 pieces every 3 weeks till christmas. The sc-2500 in november and a avr 3000 reciver dvd player due as well.

nelley,
well done building a successful business.but i was wondering if your staff are paid comission, cos the 3 times i`ve been in your shop the people that have served me have only been interested in the sale and hav`nt had the time to give advice\help.
this is opening a can of worms that really is best left shut, but scan have a lot of unsatisfied customers.maybe this is down to your rapid growth and the stresses and strains that this brings.
wish you, your business, and your customers all the very best.
shnozzer.
p.s. gizza job!

You shouild really narrow it down to whether you want mp3 or not. Most
people opt for the cheaper players becuase of the ability to play mp3s and vcds/svcds.Build quality is not as good as branded as they tend to
use all in one boards that do everything to keep costs down.I actually use
a R1 pioneer player for watching movies and a sc-2000 for mp3s r2 etc.
The branded players tend to use better quality loaders as well and have picture enhancing circuits to get the best out of the the format.Remember that toshiba is one of the manufacturs that actually invented dvd.
