Need help deciding on a DVD Recorder.

Dooze (Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 10th December 2005, 18:51

Hi all.

With Christmas coming up, I`ve decided to take up the opportunity to get a DVD Recorder. With me having other presents though, the parents have limited the price cost to £100, which seems fair in my opinion.

Anyway, I went into town an hour ago and had a look around for some DVD Recorders and came across three decent looking ones. So, if you could use your knowledge to help me decide on the DVD Recorders listed below, I`d appreciate it.

Goodmans DVD Recorder - GDVD300/301
Technika DVDR 2005 DVD Recorder - DVDR2005
Daewoo DVD Recorder - DR-2100P

Those are them. I`m quite illiterate when it comes to things like these, so I feel it best for your input. Also, I`m planning to play imports on it (mainly ones from America), so I suppose it`s neccessary for them to have a region free hack.

So, on terms of quality and everything else, what would you say is best for me?

Thanks a lot, look forward to the replies. :)

£100, although a tenner more or so should be okay, I suppose.

So, out of the;
Technika DVDR 2005 DVD Recorder - DVDR2005
Daewoo DVD Recorder - DR-2100P

Would it be best to go with the Tecknika for the DivX support on top of the rest. Narrowed it down to those two.

given the yamada is a "known" quantity (by others & favourable reviews, not by me personaly) & the divx support then yes i would go for the yamada (technika) in fact if i had any spare cash i`d get one to complement my panny dmr-e30

The Panasonic is available in Powerhouse & certainly on the web for only £120-00
This gives recording on DVD- & + But also has the most reliable re recording method there is in DVD-RAM. It is also the only one with a high quality recording in the 4 hour mode & the 4 hour mode is the one I & most people use the most.This allows time slip. ( watch a programme/answer phone/ carry on watching programme without missing anything...& Watch a programme you`ve recorded whilst recording another.It is also the only `Decent` name of the ones you mention. If you need Divx get one of the cheapie players to go with the Panny. That`s what I`ve done.
