Page 1 of problem playing some DVD on LG RC1000 DVD recorder combo

Hi I need some help. I`ve got an LG RC1000 DVD Recorder combo and have found that some DVD`s won`t play. :/ It reads the disk then puts up a message saying "can not play due to disk error" it then ejects the disk. If how ever i put the disk into my other DVD player all the disks play with no problem. I have now got 3 DVDs that wont play and 3 that will. The disks that wont play are,
meet the fokers, kangaroo jack and open water.
Some of the disks that will work are,
American pie, speeces 1 & 2.
Can anyone help with this problem or is it just the player is not compatible with some disks.

always check the region of the dvd recorder and the dvd and i f they have the same region they should be fine. if thats not the problem, try cleaning the disks that won`t play (wipe them from the middle to the edge, don`t clean them in a circular motion as it will likely make it worse) and look out for heavy scratches. if it`s not the disk, then the laser might need cleaning, you can buy lens cleaners in electronics retailers for less than a fiver. if none of those solutions help, consult a professional.

thanks for that help I cleaned the discs and check they are all region 2 . I have also run a laser cleaning cd through and tried the discs again. On the first one it didn`t play the first time i put it in, it jst rejected the disc saying "disc error can`t play disc" and so i closed the draw again just to see what would happen, and this time it played. I then repeated it for the other disks and got the same results. First time in wouldn`t play, closed the draw again and they played.They will all play on my other cheap DVD player whch got last Novmber and also on my pc with no problms. I have noticed that on two of the discs it says "duel layer" could that be the problem? :/
Any one got any other idears of how to cure ths problem or finding the same problem? The disks are all originals bought from either Tesco or Woolworths with in the last 2 months. The Recorder is about 4 months old.

You could do a google search on your make/model number to see if there is a firmware upgrade.
