Samsung TruSurround XT (SRS TSXT) for LE26R51BD

Hi
I think the original thread for this TV has probably run its course. So, can anyone please tell me how to get a reasonable surround sound from this set? I have it set to TruSurround and have tried 3D Mono and Stereo settings. Neither seems to give any effect at all. There`s no way we could fit in a Home Movie setup. I`ve had virtual Dolby before and it was impressive. Hope someone can help. Thanks.

I`m afraid you will have to live with what you have - or modify the setup.

With an LCD TV - you will always have tinny sound because the speakers simply dont have sufficient depth to produce the rich bass sounds. I have played with all the settings, even trying to set the equalisers manually, but have not succeeded.

What I resorted to was to get an el-cheapo 2.1 speaker set (which usually goes with laptops), reconfigure the speaker connector from 3.5mm to RCA Phono and plug it into the audio out jacks at the back. This way, I use the woofer for more depth, and I get much better sound. Total cost - £10 (I got the speakers and leads from India).

Thanks for this Timechaser. It`s probably saved me a lot of messing about with the set. Just to show how ignorant I am about such stuff, what is a 2.1 speaker set and how much room does it take up? (That`s my problem - the space). Thanks again.

Timechaser, I hope you can get this. I had a look around at some 2.1 Speaker sets and they were really expensive - then I saw this: http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?BEL-14390
Can you (or anyone) tell me please if this would do the job you describe? Thanks.

That looks like a good set. when you get it though, you might need to get an adaptor for plugging in the 3.5mm stereo jack into the RCA Phono outputs on the back of the TV - you could splice the wires and hardwire the RCA Phono stuff to the TV (Thats what I have done). Or you could buy an adaptor like this except that you would need the reverse of this i.e. a female 3.5mm with 2xRCA male plugs...

What I did - to explain more - was cut the wire from my speakers and replace the 3.5mm stereo plug with RCA Phono ones. You can buy any cheap wire with 2x RCA plugs at the end and do the same thing.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot timechaser. I think I`ll have a go at this, as it won`t cost a fortune.
