I would go for the 511.

the M5, historically speaking, has been a hit and miss machine.

The latest batch of M5s (built 3/2001) don`t have the stuttering problem. I`d ask to see the manufacturing sticker on the reverse of the player before buying it - if the MANUF DATE is 12/2000 avoid, if it`s 3/2001 go for it. The earlier models have a hit or miss Afreey DVD-ROM drive, the later models a superb in-house Sampo one which everyone is raving about !

Clayts,
is the M5 worth the extra £30 in terms of performance against the 511 though. I have a couple of friends who have the 511 and say it is a decent player for money, but i don`t know anyone who has an M5
