Hi all

Quick question abotu my dads dvd player. It was working fine till about 3 weeks ago and now for some reason when you play a dvd you get all the background sounds but no speech, it this a dvd hardware issue or could it be that the dvd player is kinda dead.???

It could be a dodgy scart socket or whatever connection you use. if not, the dvd player might be dead. If so, the Toshiba SD 350 has an Hdmi socket, prog scan and it can cost as low as £75 if you shop on the net, plus, it got an excellent review on What home cinema, good luck.

The sound problem is because you have the player set to output a 5/6 channel output, and connected to an amp it should sound fine.
However,if you try listening to DD through your tv set`s 2 speakers, you have 3 missing, and the tv will output what normally comes out of the left and right.
Dialogue comes out of the centre(mostly).
Is your player Pioneer?
Are you listening through tv ,amp,or both?
