I haven`t got any experience of the silverado set but I do have a pair of Eltax Symphony 2`s in my bedroom and also a set of Eltax Monitor 3`s in the living room which I was using as my main music speakers until I upgraded and they are excellent. The Monitor 3`s are now used as rear surrounds. The speakers I bought when I upgraded were Mission 702e`s and a 70c1 also excellent, highly recommended and both the Missions & Eltaxes were bought from Richer Sounds.

I`m happy with my centre and surrounds at the mo` but I`ve just auditioned the Eltax Liberty 5+`s, Eltax Silverado`s and Mission 702e`s to replace my old standmounted fronts. I chose the Liberty`s, as I thought that they were by far the best. I had my heart set on either the 702e`s or the Silverado`s purely on looks (and a few good reviews in the Missions favour).

This leads me to think the following: either a) all the reviewers who rated the 702e`s were paid well by Mission or b) it`s all a matter of taste....

By the looks of it Eltax have a number of `style` packages (lots of beech and silver) such as the Silverado and the Hollywood. You might like them, though I thought they sounded lightweight. The Mission centres and rears have great reviews but I thought the 702e`s were too polite. Nothing wrong with that, I just thought they`d be more exciting.

Good luck...take time to listen to all your choices. My branch of Richersounds let me sit for an hour to choose between the speakers and 3 CD players for a total of £210 and I`d been putting off asking them for a demo. tsk!

PS an all Liberty setup (Centre, 5+ fronts and 3+ rears) would cost £270 from RS at the mo!

readmenow - you have hit the nail on the head regarding "style & looks"
it is the look of the silver and beech of the eltax that appeals to me most although, of course it should be sound that counts and not looks!! { but dont you just want something different than "black" now :) }

One thing i have noticed about the liberty speakers you mention is that they are bi-wireable. What are everyones thoughts on this?.
Is this the way to go???.

TIA

Bi-wiring in my experience does make a subtle difference but it is not essential. I liken it to DTS over DD5.1.

What I have noticed is that when my Liberty 5`s are bi-wired I get a little more seperation i.e. Instruments and sound effects have a little more `space`. In my system it has tightened the bass as well which is of little consequence during the guts and rumble of a fight scene or an explosion but I appreciate it listening to music....

btw Richersounds have dropped the price on the eltax surround package I mentioned (Liberty 5`s, Monitor 3`s and Liberty Centre) for £219. Very good....

No, rumble, the SILVERADO`s are exactly the same as in RS. It`s the Stargate package which is different!

The silverados on qed are not the same as those at richers the qed silverados are the older models, richers have the new metal silverados.

Ask richer or qed

Richer S= £199
QED = £109

Sorry, rumble, I`m only relaying what I was told at RS! The STARGATE package at RS is made of aluminium, whereas the Stargate package at QED is the older Xx1 version made of plastic. I wasn`t aware that Eltax made the Silverados in metal , because their website states clearly that they are made of MDF, and makes no mention of any new versions.
