Copy home movie back to HDD on Targa DVD-Recorder

I have a new targa DVD-Recorder (120GB Disc). This is an excellent machine and does a superb job in a simple way. I notice that you can copy a home movie from camcorder to hard disc and then produce a DVD copy but cannot then use the DVD disc copy to regenerate the movie on hard disc (obviously the original would have been deleted prematurely for this situation to arise - but it can and does happen!!!!). Is there a way around getting the movie back on hard disk?

have you got an extra dvd player around the house, if so you could use that as the source to record from, onto your dvd recorder,i hope that makes sense.

Thanks leelee that certainly does make sense. I have just one more slightly related question:

Not that I would want to do this but....if my friend only has a VCR and I want to give him a copy of my HDD based movie on tape is it possible to copy back from hard disc on Targa to a VHS tape. I have done the opposite quite easily, i.e., copy from VCT to HDD.

.....and a final question: do you know of any hidden features/utilities that could be used on the Targa DVD Recorder? For example, I have used the only I`m aware of at present - Region 2 to Multi.

Thanks for help.

Hi, I`ve read your topic. I`m about to buy a Targa DRH 5000. Are we talking the same recorder?

What puzzles me is the fact whether this machine can record a divx from my computer to its HDD, automatically make the conversion to dvd-format and finally burns it to a dvd which I can play in my standalone dvd-player.

And that`s not all. It must be able to copy the subtitles for that movie (.srt) from my pc also
to the HDD and put them to the converted avi, so that in the end I have a complete dvd with subtitles.
