Page 1 of looking for a digital camcorder any suggestions ?

Me and the wife are looking at buying a digital camcorder,nothing to expensive as it`s our first.
I just want to be able to record on to tape and download recordings to Pc via usb.

Any suggestions ?

Just picked up a JVC (ex-dem) over the weekend, from PC World £209, tapes were on a clearance & bought the largest battery I could find for £10 being shipped from the US.

Most models using MiniDV seem to be about the £250 - £299 mark, main thing is to check it has Firewire (not USB) for editing purposes.



I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.

got a Canon MV800 for about £230. Wanted that cos it can shoot in widescreen. Forget USB - too slow! You need firewire, and even then I`m finding my pc can`t cope with transferring at high quality (but perhaps I`m doing something wrong!).
