Eclipse 695?

Mr C (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 21st June 2001, 11:00

Knowing very little about DVD Players I have been looking at what is available up to £200.
Richersounds are selling the Eclipse 695 for £180. It is apparently multi region all singing and dancing. I can`t however find any mention of it in magazines. Does anyone know anything about this player.?
I want a player that can first be used with my Sony Wega and then be upgraded to surround with a seperate system. Is the Wharfedale M5 a good option?Does it cope with RCE encoded discs in it`s multi region capacity?
Any help much appreciated Colin.

I bought one of these last week from Richer Sounds.
It worked perfectly out of the box with a Region 1 Warner RCE title.
The picture looks fine on my widescreen TV.
It`s got all the connections at the back you could want(optical,digital5.1etc)
Hope this helps.

It is exactly the same as the mico 980 (except cosmeticaly) so if you want more info, hacks etc. then search for that instead and you`ll get lots

Gavin,

Forgive me for sounding rude but how do you know that it`s the same as the mico? I`ve got a DVD595 from richersounds, what is it the same as? Whilst I`m at it when you say the same do you mean a) shares some common components with other players or b) is identical apart from the fascia?

Do you know where I can get anymore info about Eclipse players? Firmware, user groups anything really...

I like my DVD595, I`d be interested to see what improvements there are in the DVD695.
