Please can anyone give any information on the Swisstec DVR-1028. I may be a bit thick but I find the instruction booklet does not give much help. Can anyone enlighten me? So far it will not accept a blank DVD and maybe I am using the wrong type of DVD?

Check your media type + or - .

The Swisstech accepts +R or +RW media I beleive.

I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.

THE SWISSTEC DVR-1028 IS A GREAT MACHINE,AFTER HAVING TWO GOODMANS DVD RECORDERS WITH SPEAKERS FOR £149.99 BOUGHT FROM ARGOS.THIS MACHINE WOULD SOMETIMES WORK,BUT FINALISING TO WORK ON ANOTHER MACHINE WAS THE MAIN PROBLEM,AND EVENTUALLY I GAVE UP.

THE SWISSTEC DVR-1028 IS SIMPLE TO USE.IF YOU`VE NEVER HAD A DVD RECORDER BEFORE,ALL DVD RECORDERS ARE HARDER TO USE THAN VCR.
FOR DISCS TO WORK ON THIS MACHINE YOU NEED A DVD R+,OR DVD RW+.TO RECORD,YOU HAVE TO TUNE IN THE CABLE CHANNEL,THEN PRESS SOURCE(GOING THROUGH I LINK),ETC UNTIL YOU GET TO SCART,PRESS PLAY ON VIDEO MACHINE TO GET PICTURE,THEN PRESS RECORD.A LITTLE RED DOT REMAINS ON SCREEN,AND USE STOP AND PAUSE.IF YOU NEED ANY MORE HELP CONTACT ME AT 16RRAP[at].KU.OC.LIAMTOH THANKS

Thanks for your help regarding the machine, at first I thought I had purchased trouble but I now seem to be able to record without too much trouble. I find the manual s translation from chinese leaves much to be desired!

Regarding copying video`s onto the Swisstec. I have copied several films from video to dvd and have not had any problem. I have recorded via the scart wired between the video and the dvd recorder, also via the channel number that the dvd recorder tuner has allocated to the video. So far all is well. donakerman
