Panny E55 and photo CD-R

Anyone know if the E55 should play photo CD-R`s ?
I got some sort of `Unsupported media` message when trying to play it in my E55.
As per usual when the Panny spits the dummy, the cheap as chips Asda thing in the bedroom played the disc as a slideshow no problem.
I`m usually a staunch supporter of the Panny machines, but that hacked me right off.... >:(

I`m sure in the manual it specifies under what discs can and can`t be played that jpeg photo discs can`t be played. Can`t get on to panny site to confirm that though

Panny confirmed it by e-mail.
It`s been getting on my nerves lately. >:(
I`ve been given films to watch by friends that it spits out and now this. :/
Meanwhile, the godawful piece of s*** I bought for the bedroom plays them all without a care in the world. :¦

Most of the cheapo supermarket DVDs are manufactured from PC components (I`ve heard) so are much more likely to play other formats. I had a Compacks that played virtually everthing, including CDs with mpeg files on (ie not created as a VCD).

I bought a Panny S27 for £40, so I could watch RAM stuff recorded on my E55 in the bedroom. I sold a 5 yr old Samsung DVD player on e-bay for £27 to help fund it. Not a bad upgrade for £13! The other bonus is that the S27 has Hi-MAT - a Panasonic/Microsoft collaboration to support picture CDs. It gives you thumbnails, slide shows and much that a PC display can...but having said that, TV`s will rarely display digital photos as well as a PC monitor will.
