Lite-On LVW 5006 Disc Recognition Problem

warthog1 (Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 26th March 2005, 18:04

I`ve just purchased a LiteOn 5006 and am in the process of setting it up. So far I`ve tried the DVD sent with the recorder, 2XDVD-RW and a DVD+RW, all brand new, right out of the box. All have been unsuccessful and all show invalid disc.

As a last resort, I`ve now updated the firmware from the Lite-On site--same result. Is there anything else anyone can think of?

Thanks

Get rid of the machine, I`ve had mine for 13 months with nothing but problems.
Most of the time it won`t recognise -RW discs with content burned by the recorder itself, now it fails even to see -RW, as either being NO DISC or INVALID DISC.( even when erased by recorder or NERO on PC). Blank -RW sometimes get prepared then at 99% system says INVALID DISC.
Firmware is the latest v0101, downloaded from LITEON webpage.
Even with +RW discs, when trying to view content it jumps, freezes and a constant pain in the butt.
Waste of money in my opinion.

Hi

Have you tried resetting the machine [ the default ].And try unpluging for a few mins then try again.I have one of these machines and only had the odd problem with maxell -rws.I have the firmware it came with.[not checked number?].

PS Try not too unplug things from the same socket or adapter without turning them fully off as that can upset most machines and only a reset and sometimes a power off fixes them.

bye

R.B [I have found my machine to be pretty good and have had it 2 months ]

Not much help I know, but for what it`s worth I have this machine too and have had no problems.... Maybe try an exchange for another machine?
