Hello all
I recently had my first taste of DVD whilst in America, watching `Bedazzled` (not my choice) and was fairly impressed. The player was a Sony DAVS300.
Maybe it was time to go out and buy elctrical stuff.
Then I made a big mistake. I started reading a few mags etc. and became increasingly baffled with all the options available.
I have come close to buying a Cyber-Home 512, Toshiba SD210E, amongst others to go along with maybe a Yamaha VS-10 or Sony HTK-215. Various last minute things have stopped me.
So, what should it be?
I`ve about £500-600 free on my credit card and I want DTS/5.1 (to fill my lounge up with more speakers). All the usual features would be nice, multi-region etc. but I`m sure I could live without one or two.
Any suggestions?
I see richer sounds are doing the DAVS300 for £469 - would I really notice that it wasn`t scart connected?
When the DAV s300 first came out - I too was impressed but what you should remember is that although you would be buying sony quality and amp and dvd player combined will never be that good.
Obviously your budget would not allow you to go out and buy Linn but sticking with sony you can`t go far wrong.
I ended up with DVP-S335 dvd player (soon to be chipped) and STR-DB830. I sort of cheated with the speakers and sub as I went for Linn which was highly extravagant! (center speaker and sub !)
Seperates are better. Shop around don`t just buy what sony or yamaha think you should have in a "home Cimema".
Once you decide what exactly you want (even if it is S300) then give Sound and Vision a call, on 01204 707079. Ask for their best price (they sold me a £900 TV for £500. They gave me free delivery!
Good luck
