Page 1 of Wharfedale 750 Stuttering

I have the above player but when I play certain R1 disks it seems to skip frames (Planet of the apes, Hollowman).
Wharfedale tech support state that the player was designed to play reigon 2 only so as such they cannot help.
Has anybody managed to solve this problem ?
If you are talking about frame judder then this is normal for NTSC material.
It`s due to the way 30fps NTSC is created from 24fps Film by repeating every 4th frame.
25fps PAL is created from 24fps Film by 4% speedup.
Players that do an NTSC -> PAL conversion can make the frame judder look even worse
RE: Wharfedale 750 Stuttering
You can get around this....I have had the same problem with Gone in 60 Seconds.
If you go into the setup screens on the player and change your TV type....the flickering/stuttering should stop.
I can`t remember what setting works, but try them all.
RE: Wharfedale 750 Stuttering
Personally I set the output of my Wharfedale M5 to `Multi` given that it will send whatever format the dvd is (PAL or NTSC) and I set video output to `Scart` and `RGB` (separate menu options).
To use this method however you must ensure your TV scart socket is capable of accepting an RGB signal otherwise you`ll get a non-stuttering picture alright, but i`ll be b&w. This had me stumped for ages until I switched the scart inputs around (my Wharfedale CTV850 has 2 - the second of which isn`t suitable).
Hope this helps.
