PROBLEMS WITH MATSUI DVDR100.
:( HELLO THERE. IM NEW TO THIS FORUM. BUT I HAVE A PROBLEM, WHICH I HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME WITH. I BOUGHT 2 MATSUI DVDR100 FROM CURRYS JUST BEFORE CHRISTMAS AS GIFTS. BUT THERE SEEMS TO BE A FAULT WITH BOTH SYSTEMS. THESE FAULTS INCLUDE POOR SOUND QUALITY. AND THE TIME ON THE CLOCK INCREASES BY SEVERAL MINUTES EACH WEEK FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I ALSO BOUGHT A SECOND SET OF GOLD SCART LEADS TO INCREASE THE QUALITY, BUT STILL NO DIFFERENCE.
HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM, AND WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND.
MANY THANKS
JASON LEE

AND WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND.
Dustbin for the Chinese recorders, or get money back then do as I have posted loads of times, get the Panasonic E55, or wait for the new Panasonics, & probably other GOOD makes to arrive in the shops.
Hi Jason,
I`ve just discovered this forum today. I`ve just noticed that the time on the clock on my Matsui DVDR100 also increases by a couple of minutes each week. Did you get any feedback on this problem?
Many thanks,
Diccon
RE: PROBLEMS WITH MATSUI DVDR100.
I have to say, you get what you pay for.
Good brands like Sony, Panasonic and JVC may cost more - but you know you are getting a quality product.
I bought the Sony RDR-GX300 (based on reviews in magazines where it came out top) - and am very pleased with it.
So I recommend getting a refund, then buying a quality DVD recorder.
RE: PROBLEMS WITH MATSUI DVDR100.
I wouldn`t dismiss it entirely; horses and courses.
I bought the Matsui before Christmas as well, and will agree that I got what I paid for: a basic machine, for not a lot of dosh, that does exactly what it claims to do. (It records and plays back just fine -- it`s used almost exclusively for time-shifting, then erasing, on DVD+RW. I reset the clock once in a while, but then I have to do that on my fairly-expensive computer as well, as that alsao runs a bit fast.)
If you want a classy machine, the Matsui`s the wrong choice, but not everybody wants/needs to spend the extra 50 or 100 quid for the next level. If you want a basic machine for minimal cost -- for basic recording and playback -- the Matsui seems to be fine.
Well dont know if this machine is based on a Philips design, but some of there models also seem to suffer clock problems.
