Cheapest DVD Players at the moment...Thoughts??

EmilyHoward (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 12th January 2005, 08:41

Need to pick up a `cheap n cheerful` TODAY for someone-looking at places like any of the major supermarkets, Richer Sounds, Comet..etc..etc..

When I say `Cheap` I mean `Cheap`-I know Richers have one for 20 quid, so from there (very slightly) upwards-Don`t need anything fancy like DTS or Dolby, though handset hackable for region free is a must have.

So , where am I best going?

£30 and the Apex from Currys.
Chunky, but does the trick so far for me, every single time!
(Including a disc which stuttered in my DVD-R *compatible* machine! :o)

I have a Pacific DVD-1002 and it`s played everything I`ve flung at it with no problems. I`d definitely recommend it :)

Got the Pacific 1002 (Mk2) -looks very nice too!! Noticed they had another model there for about 5 quid less, same make, seemed to have all the same functions on , it was even smaller than this one. It had a different number (something like 991) and no fromt display, but I stayed with this one as it`s the one I`ve seen a lot of good reports on

I noticed in my local Asda yesterday a Dual (brand name) Divx capable player, which you can pre-order but isnt in stock yet, for £42. No idea what they are like, but I just bought a Yamada 6700 for £52 inc P+P on mail order and dont know how I have lived without it.
