E55 recordings to view on other players

lorbobo (Competent) posted this on Friday, 10th December 2004, 10:34

:/ Hello , I`m new to this site but lookin` for some advice please.
I have a panasonic E55 which i`m really happy with, but as i`m not very technically minded i have a problem with the proper discs to use.I`m using DVD-RAM discs to record and play on the E55 but i also have a cheap clairtone DVD player and a Bush portable TV/DVD combi, the problem is anything i record from the E55 to DVD-RAM discs cannot be played on the other players. Is there another type of disc i can use or will anything i record on the E55 have to be viewed on the E55???(my 2 year old daughter is missing watching Minnie Mouse in her own room).
Thank you in advance. :/

Buy -R discs
You can only use them once, but they are cheap.
Record your programme then finalise them.
They will now play on all your machines.

Dead easy

I should have said
You don`t have to use one -R per programme recorded.
You could record quite a few editions of your daughter`s programme onto one -R disc, depending on which recording mode you use (EP,XP,LP etc.etc.).
However it won`t play on another machine until you finalise it.
Prior to finalisation it will play on the Panasonic.

They spend £200-£250 on a machine then dont bother to read the manual....I shall bite my lip!

Thanks to all who replied to my original post(well nearly all).
Zovirax(scabs??) i did indeed read the instruction manual, but i thought that the good people (yourself excluded) who frequent these forums, and are more technicaly minded than myself, would know some way to record NOT using DVD-RAM or DVD-R to then play on other players.
Perhaps you should just keep your thoughts to yourself if you have nothing decent to contribute.

Cheers scabby,
was that the best reply you could come up with.
I won`t be replying to you again, although you seem to (think) you know about DVDs etc you do n`t seem to be the type of poster a decent person would converse with.
Thanks again to the DECENT posters who took the time to post a reply.
zovirax try to be nice to people and your scabs may heal.

I did read page 45 but i thought i would bow to people with a greater knowledge than myself.
