panasonic e55 vibration

bryfly (Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 5th December 2004, 18:21

Had a panny e55 now for about 5 weeks, works perfectly but this week has developed a vibration when there is a disk in it not playing, it vibrates the tv cabinet it is in and if you touch the top of the unit itself you can feel it , once you start to play the disk it stops. Im using panasonic disks with no caddy, when I try with a caddy disk it is a lot quieter, any of you Panny owners out there noticed this, or have I got a faulty one??

Sounds like a problem to me. :/
Never had this with mine (e50)
The brother in law has the e55 & nothing has ever happened like this to him.
Take it back to the store & they should replace it for you (5 weeks is nothing really)
Hope this helps,
Mark ;)

I have an E50 and E55.
The E55 is generally much much noisier than the E50. :/
I occasionally get the vibration you speak of.
I also get the sort of `whoosing/whirring` noise you get when you put a DVD in your PC a fair bit.
The E50 is silent at all times.
Perhaps my E55 is faulty as well, but it`s such a random thing I can`t be arsed doing anything about it. :D

Definetly a common occurance I have an E55 and an E85 and they are nosiy as hell! at times
I was worried when I bought the E55 but since I got the E85 I know that its a Panny thing!
I often turn them off when not in use.

What`s different about the E50 then ?
I swear mine has been quite as a mouse since I bought it.
No vibration,no `whirring/whoosing` noises.
Nothing.
In fact, when I move house next week,I`m thinking of `promoting` the E50 downstairs again and the E55 will be then become the secondary recorder/player.
Panasonic definitely seem to have made a bit of a backward step with the E55,in terms of noise anyway.

( I should add the noise from the E55 is very sporadic and shouldn`t put anyone off buying one. It`s only the fact that my older E50 is silent that has made me notice it. )

I agree as nosy as they can be I have no regrets about buying them they are great machines something must have happend after the E50 then, maybe they want you to turn them off when not in use?

Well I bought mine a couple of months ago and after a week I was going to put up a thread asking how do you know if the fan is working! the only time I heard any noise is when I finalize a disc and it makes a light whirring noise, I have used it many a late night when you can hear the clocks in the house ticking but the panny is as quite as a mouse......I had a good feeling about that machine as soon as I took it out the box. :)

To be honest it is a boring peice of kit. :) the philips owners have all the fun!
