Can anyone help me with my ALDI DVD player?

matt12345 (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 2nd December 2004, 12:02

Hi

I am new here and have a a very limited knowledge on how to use these things.

I have just bought the new DVD recorder from Aldi with the plan being to convert all my vids to DVDS.

However i`ve wired it all up, a scart from dvd to tv and a scart from dvd to video but the problem im having is i can either watch a dvd but then i cant see the video (altho i can hear it) or i can watch the video but then cant get the DVD to work.

Im sure its a simple problem and perhaps one of you fine folk can assist me with simple ways to make it work?

Thanks for your help

Matt

EDIT: Also does anyone have any idea of how I might go about making it play my region 1 DVDs?

how many scarts sockets are on the dvd player itself ?

Also on your tv/vid the holeys do they say anything next to them and what colours are they on your tv/video. I suspect they are just audio.

On the DVD player there are two scart sockets.

The holey things aren`t colored they are just the silver ones, where u ge the wires that have the holes and the pins to connect them,

On the Video it says `IN` on one and `RF` on the other.

The telly one only has the one.

The DVD has scart in and scart out and its holey things say In and Out with Anttena at the bottom.

does the dvd players scart sockets say in or out or tv / video etc. or have RGB next to one. Also can you confirm if this recorder has a tv tuner built in

i dont belive it has a built in tv tuner so you would have to record via scart freeview/sky box etc this machine is a medio/sampo/relisys clone look in bargain buckets forum more info there

The DVD scarts have Scart in on one and Scart Out/TV on the other...

Has the tuner well when i switched it on it scanned for channels but as I say i only really am worried about recording from my video collection for now...

Im not sure if thats what u mean by tuner...it seems my technical expertise has reached its limits!

Simple layout to at least get you working:

Connect the VCR to SCART 2 (EXT 2) or however its labelled (or the RCA inputs Red White & Yellow).

Connect the TV to SCART 1 (EXT 1) of the recorder & set it to look at SCART 2 (EXT 2) or the RCA inputs.

Play a Tape

Set the TV to display whatever SCART you connected the recorder to & you should see the output of the VCR on the TV being fed via the recorder.

Hope that helps.
