Liteon 5005 TV interference when recording
Hi
Can anyone help me? Like a lot of people I have just bought a Liteon 5005 from Argos. My problem is when I record some thing the TV picture becomes distorted, like a herring bone pattern. Once recording is stopped pictoure is fine. Also the recorder is quite noisey, is this normal.
Thanks in advance. 8)

Sounds like Pin 19 needs to be removed on the SCART as one cause of the interference.
The details have been posted many a time here. :)
If Mac users are "more intelligent than the average computer user," why do they need an operating system designed for complete idiots?

This does not seem like a Pin 19 problem.
It sounds like you are getting some sort of electrical interference form the recorder. Recording would require extra power over playback, perhaps it also affects radios nearby? Maybe you have the recorder immediately under the TV - in which case trying it further away might help, or may at least help with diagnosing the problem.

I am having a similar problem, although I only notice the interference (like slight watery shadows rolling over the screen from right to left ) when there is a blue screen as when changing Sky channels. My sky box is sitting ontop of the Lit 5005 and like you the picture is affected when the motor in the recorder is running.
Someone suggested putting an anti static matt or similar between the two ,if that doesn`t work I will try changing the Scarts

Ted, snip pin 19, if the picture totally disappears, swap the scart ends with each other.
Your post sounds dead to the letter of pin 19 return interference.
If you want to check it`s NOT the scart, then move the two units as far apart as the scarts will allow and retest.

boobeccajen, your problem actually sounds more like the Liteon is outputting an RF signal whilst recording, and said RF signal is interfering with something else.
Next time you hit record, turn back to TV and try to tune a blank station to see if you can find the recording in progress.
If not, I`d go for radio interference as posted above, not good on cures though, but a test is the same as my last post, as much distance as possible between the units.
