Still pondering the purchase of a hard drive dvd recorder. I like the sound of the new Sony hx900. I believe that it`s only just arrived in UK. If you accept the Sony blurb, it should give the excellent Panasonic E-85 a run for its money.I believe that it uses a different recording format to the RAM of the Pani.
Has anyone out there tried out the new Sony ? Impressed ?

:)
Bought one about 2 to 3 weeks ago. So far, the overall output pic quality is excellent, and the new one & half hour HSP mode is very good. Controls are generally quite good, once you get used to them.
I have only really one major gripe, and that is that the input video on the internal HDD is NOT editable, such as dividing, putting on menus etc. Very silly that ! Also there is a distinct lag between when asking the m/c to record on a newly inserted DVD-R disc, and when the recording process actually starts, approx 3 secs !
The in/out connections on front and back are well up to standard, and there are manual controls on the front fascia that are better than most machines I`ve come across !
Overall I would give it 4 out of 5
