I`m looking to buy a dvd recorder, i have heard the cheap ones are not much good as some do not play back on normal dvd players. Whats the best to go for around £300?, I don`t want one with a hard disk but does anyone know whats better dvd ram or dvd-rw to record onto? Thanks in advance :)

Sky+ and a Pioneer 104 in the PC :)

Never really record to keep off the telly, hence the Sky+ does all that.
done about 5 maybe 6 recordings on the Panny, and about 7 more "playbacks" of discs just to make sure it all works....rest of the time, it`s a clock! Lol

Just avoid Philips. Mainly because of reliability. I prefer Panasonic others like there Pioneer, JVC & so on. I also have a Mico that I`m pleased with however the Panasonic E55 can be bought for under £199.00 on the net & represents the best value there is.

any fans of the JVC DRM10? Not costing much more than the panasonic DMRE55EBS but gives you the flexibility of ram and -rw. Had a quick look through the other theads and coudn`t see any comments.

JVC lacks RGB input.Panasonic lacks -RW.Go for Pioneer,Toshiba and others that supply both
