Does anyone know if you can use your sky box to get the free channels without subscribing?

Yes you can, although not all the same channels as `Freeview`.

SKY are actually about to promote this FTA service (it will lead to paying customers). think they`re going to charge about £125 for an installed SKY box.

You can only view the shopping channels and and the BBC plus a few others, but you won`t get ITV 1,ITV2,C4,C5.

Free to View cards will be on sale soon,but ITV2 is only available as part of the Family Pack.And ITV 3 is not even going to be on Sky for 6 months.Various channels Free To Air on Freeview are only available as part of a subscription on Sky.

Please check the link to the listed channels, before saying you only get the BBC and shopping channels.

You get some Sports (Motors TV and Extreme) lots of news, music, kids and general entertainment.

Sorry to hit this thread with a side issue of sky boxes but......

Does anyone else suffer from `channel signal failure` everytime they send a signal to change the encripted view security codes, usually on the middle and end of the month.

I have to switch of the machine, pull out the card, put it in and switch on again to reset the box.

Most frustrating, especially when I am a paying subscriber.

phoned sky and they`re bringing out a freeview card at the end of October for £20.so just went on the family package as a former subscriber i`m not held to a 12 month contract.by the way does anyone happen to know how you can change the pin no on the sky box if you`ve forgoten it?
